5 Essential Steps for Your Next Brand Photoshoot Checklist

For your photoshoot session to be successful and you're thrilled with the images, the process, and more importantly, you are gaining more customers and attention, here are my 5 easy tips that I consistently share with all my clients.

1. Identify what you want

First thing I do when we make contact is to check out your website, social media & blog to see whether your images are outdated or/and branded stock images. This gives me an idea of what your customer looks at and how we can work out an action plan together based on your marketing goals, key messages, aesthetics, upcoming launches and just the plain ol' nitty gritty of what makes your business awesome.

2. Find a Location

What vibe are you looking for? Urban, office, outside with greenery, clean bright studio look...the list is endless and it may be that we shoot in a few different locations, but whatever we choose, it'll be specific to your brand.

I also have some very cool spots up my sleeve to suggest...

3. Shot List

My all time fave app is Pinterest. Seriously can go down, down, down a rabbit hole with this one. I have many boards (many are private) from building our barns to exotic alcoholic cakes! (don't judge me!)

It is also for us to be on the same page with our creative ideas. From here, I send you an extensive shot list and so when the big day arrives, we are cool as cucumbers as we know what to achieve.

4. Wardrobe

The fun bit, as it's a field mine out there, but I always suggest to stick to feeling comfortable and YOU. Embrace your brand's colours, switch up a jacket and a scarf so there is a variety of images to see you through. A great tip is to get your hair and makeup done professionally. I've also got an excellent contact if you need. Remember, no logos, no distracting patterns, less is more, iron the clothes, bring a variety if you're unsure, clean your nails. On top of this, I also bring a comb for flyaways, a lint roller (I'm a dog owner, so I totally get it!), and some lip gloss and blush just in case...

5. Props

For props, bring your laptop, iPhone, favourite mug, glasses, etc etc. I've also photographed handbags, with an array of cosmetics and jewellery with perfume. The shots don't have to be generic and boring, with simple fun props, they can demonstrate to your customer how you work, a little sneak peek at your workplace.
